During the third quarter of 2022, the Maps and Navigation category on the Android platform in Italy saw significant activity. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top five apps in this category, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic had a notable quarter with weekly downloads peaking at around 36K in the second week of August before gradually declining to approximately 24K by the end of September. Active users showed a similar fluctuating trend, reaching a high of about 627K in late July and ending the quarter at around 495K.

Trainline: Train travel Europe experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads early in the quarter, peaking at approximately 35K in early August. However, downloads decreased to around 17K by mid-September. The app’s active users remained relatively stable, ranging from 190K to 213K throughout the quarter.

Moovit: Bus & Train Schedules showed a consistent increase in weekly revenue, starting at $155 and peaking at $222 by mid-September. Weekly downloads also grew significantly, reaching a high of about 35K in early September. Active users saw a notable rise from approximately 214K at the beginning of the quarter to over 303K by the end of September.

Trenitalia had a stable performance in terms of weekly downloads, hovering around 18K to 22K throughout the quarter. Active users saw a gradual increase, starting at approximately 228K and reaching around 280K by the end of September.
